To boost infrastructure investment in Indonesia, support is needed in particular local governments, the availability of electricity and the need for an equal level playing field among business people, both from within and outside the country.
Computrade Technology International (CTI Group), a provider of information technology infrastructure (IT) solutions, last Thursday (10/17) held a Golden Circle Club Meeting which was attended by dozens of IT executives. This event was held to discuss how to encourage infrastructure investment to maximize the development of digital businesses in the country.
The Golden Circle Club Meeting (GCC) is an annual discussion forum organized by the CTI Group for its business partners, namely System Integrators and Independent Software Vendors, to share knowledge and discuss current topics and trends in economics and business. This event itself has been running for 15 years and has become a solid community.
This year, GCC held a panel discussion that discussed "Driving Infrastructure Investments to Support Digital Business". IT experts were also present as panelists such as, Fuad Lalean, Resources Industry Managing Director of Accenture Indonesia, Leon Chen, Country Manager of Alibaba Cloud Indonesia, Heru Sutadi , Executive Director of the Indonesia ICT Institute and Ellyza Hasan.
Based on the results of studies from Accenture Technology Vision 2019, current business conditions are at a turning point. Every business has embraced the importance of digital transformation, and the next opportunity is to take advantage of the market. This means the company must be very agile in identifying and delivering what customers want instantly.
This is the next round of the era of digital transformation, where technology is no longer a complementary aspect but has become the foundation of a business. Of course, realizing this opportunity must be supported by adequate infrastructure, both internally and externally.
Seeing the IT infrastructure journey in Indonesia that is still long, businesses in the country itself seems unable to enter this new phase. For example, the Palapa Ring backbone project that has been completed since August 2019 can only reach 514 cities / districts in Indonesia. Outside the area, launched the Telecommunications and Information Accessibility Agency (BAKTI) there are still many remote areas that have not been touched by the internet which is inhabited by approximately 20 million residents.
