XL Axiata supports equitable development in Eastern Indonesia, by formalizing the USO network in remote areas of NTT.
XL is now continuing the development of telecommunications and data networks in remote areas through the USO (Universal Service Obligation) scheme in 2019. The development of this network focuses on remote areas as company support to the government in the distribution and provision of telecommunications services in areas not yet covered by telecommunications and data services.
This is also in line with XL Axiata's plan to develop network infrastructure to areas outside of Java. It is known that this year the construction of the USO network by XL Axiata covers 289 points in various provinces which are mostly included in Eastern Indonesia (KTI), including in the Province of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).
To mark the development of the USO network in NTT and other Eastern Indonesia, XL Axiata together with the Ministry of Communication and Information (Kominfo) inaugurated one of the USO BTS in Aewora Village, Maurole District, Ende Regency, NTT, on Monday. It is claimed that all USO BTS points built by XL Axiata this year are in 51 regencies, including those in the Central and Eastern Indonesia. It is known that the construction of USO networks at these points has been carried out since October 2019 and will be completed before the end of this year.
"We are very proud to be given the opportunity by the government to continue to participate in the development of telecommunications network infrastructure through this USO program. XL Axiata has a spirit that is in line with the vision of the government in providing telecommunications and data / internet networks for people in remote areas so that they can immediately take advantage of digital technology to catch up with other regions and advance the region. This also accelerates the national development carried out by the government, "said XL Axiata Director of Technology, Yessie D. Yosetya.
XL Axiata also hopes to continue this in 2020 in a wider area. Yessie also revealed that the company will also manage and develop all USO networks that are built into networks that are truly able to serve the community as much as possible, thus providing economic and business value. To that end, XL Axiata will also build a supportive ecosystem so that local communities can more easily access and utilize all types of XL Axiata services.
In 2017 and 2018, XL Axiata has also begun building USO networks in a number of regions. Including West Kalimantan, South Kalimantan, South Sumatra, East Java and West Nusa Tenggara. It is claimed that traffic data recorded at each BTS shows a significant increase since it first started operating until now, which is an average of between 11-15 percent. In addition, the number of people who use it also continues to grow. This means that the community has benefited from the existence of the USO network, including local government officials in providing services to their citizens. Therefore, XL Axiata also plans to improve network quality to 3G.
