Niantic Labs as the developer of the Harry Potter game: Unite Wizards said that this happened because of a bug.
It's no secret that at this time many application companies are storing user data. Not only social media applications, but the game also practices it.
One example of a company that stores user data is Niantic Labs. Yes, the creators of the Pokemon Go and Harry Potter games: Unite Wizards have recently been known to store user location data.
Apparently, both gamers on Pokemon Go and Harry Potter: Wizards Unite are affected by this problem. However, some reports say that the most felt are the Harry Potter players: Wizards Unite.
Engaget (17/10) reported that they had also collected a surprising amount of data. 10 gamers stated that a total of 25 thousand records of their locations were kept by Niantic.
They reportedly keep around three location notes per minute when users play the Unite Wizards game. The record is almost double more than the total number of locations stored for Pokemon Go.
In one case, Niantic had at least one location note taken almost every hour of the day. This shows that the company took user data even though they didn't play the game.
When asked for confirmation about the news, Niantic also denied deliberate recording of location data. They instead blame non-stop data collection due to a bug in their Android version of the game.
But, the Niantic said that the bug is now being addressed. They also said that all data that had been received by them to be deleted from their database.
